Every morning, while driving through Kochi’s clogged roads, he scans for children working in shops or begging for a living. “I photograph them,” says Murugan, who has a costly digital camera, a gift from one of his many fans. “Then I lodge a complaint with the nearest police station.” Over the past six years, Murugan has rescued more than 2,000 children from different parts of the city.
What drives his mission? “It is my own life,” says Murugan, who hails from a poor family in Chengotta district in Tamil Nadu. His parents migrated to Idukki district in Kerala in search of work. “That was before I was born,” he recalls. “We were a happy family. My parents were plantation labourers. My mother earned Rs 300 a month.”
Then he brought up in the slums of Kochi by seeing the growth of Metro Kochi .
Bro.Mavooris a well known Social worker has given a new life path to Murugan from the slum boy image. Murugan got a new life with many friends in Don Bosco Snehabhavan. From there, Murugan learned to write and speech in Malayalam. Where Murugan has got vocational training to building construction as a mason. More over the harden experience of life taught him to love the world with kindness and humanity like a deep sea…….!
After completing the secondary level education in open school system, he used to sell newspapers and played in foot ball tournaments. For getting better salary hood he learned to drive auto rickshaw too.
Every morning, he work for the society by rescuing kids and old age people from the street and provide shelter, food, medicine according to their needs and meet the expenses from the late night drive..
Mother Teresa is his role model and inspiration. Now he realizes his life as dedication to wipe out the pains of millions in street like a God faith…..Murugan flag of the Journey of Theruvoram since 2007.In 2012 Theruvoram celebrating sixth Birth day!!
